Will Moore is a detective with the Richmond City police department. A case he was involved with went down badly and he was given a month's sabbatical to pull himself together after the death of his informant, a young man named Teabag with whom Will had let himself become sexually involved.
Back on the force now, Will finds himself drawn to another street punk, a hustler named Corey, who seeks police assistance to protect his "boys" from a violent attacker. Though he and Corey work well together, Will can't seem to shake the feeling he will eventually fail to protect Corey ... the same way he failed to save Tea.

Returning after a forced month's sabbatical, Detective Will Moore finds himself heading back down the same path that left him blaming himself for a young hustler's death. Losing Teabag was hard on Will, he wasn't just his informant he was also Will's lover. Now Will is faced with a perpetrator on the loose attacking young hustler's and targeting the area of Will's latest lover, Corey, who is also a hustler.
Corey works the streets because he likes sex and he's good at it. What better job to have then one you are good at and you actually like. Older than some of the other boys who work the streets around him, Corey looks out for their well-being. When his `boys' start getting roughed up, Corey turns to Will for help.
The storyline for Tricked Out was not to my liking. The story was rushed, predictable and there was absolutely no chemistry between Will and Corey. It seemed Will had a problem learning his lesson and for an officer who went through what he went through only a month ago, picking up hustlers should have been the furthest thing from his mind. With that said, I still found Will to be a likable character, but I did not care for Corey at all. For a writer of Ms. Snyder's caliber and whose work I most often enjoy, I was sadly disappointed with Tricked Out.

Tricked Out is the story of a man who is given a second chance, not to repair past wrongs, but to atone for them. This is a story of forgiveness, about being able to forgive oneself and to heal.
Willis Moore committed the near cardinal sin of police work he allowed himself to become intimately involved with his informant in a case that, in the end, went horribly wrong, leaving Tea dead and Willis irrevocably scarred, not physically but emotionally. After a month long sabbatical, Willis is back on the job and quickly becomes embroiled in a relationship with a hustler that smacks a bit of history repeating itself, especially when Corey Thomason's boys start showing up battered and abused and unwilling to talk to the police.
For Willis, it's an opportunity to redeem himself; it's a race against time to find the perpetrator before a murder is committed, and, perhaps most important of all, it's a chance to keep Corey safe in the way he couldn't with Tea. The only question is how will he keep Corey from using himself as bait to catch the criminal?
Willis and Corey's relationship was sweet and sexy, and there was plenty of action and suspense in the plot to keep me turning pages, even though J.M. Snyder allows the reader to know who the attacker is from the outset. The thrill in this story is in the cat and mouse contest to see how quickly Willis will discover and neutralize the threat before Corey becomes the victim.

Will is an Afro American cop just out of a month of leave of absence his last case ended pretty bad, with his informer (and lover) dead. A drugs addicted with some friend in the wrong circle, Teabag was a guy in search of trouble, but it was Will who asked him to pass over information on his friends, and so Will blames himself for his death.
But Will seems to not be able to learn from his mistakes, and the first day he is again on duty, he drags the street to hook up with an hustler, Corey. Corey is a 23 years old college student who dumped university for an easier profession, and he is quite happy with his new work. He also looks upon six other guys, he is not a pimp, but he makes sure that all of them pays for rent and bills, and some of them are even still at university. But when a man begins to prey on "his" boys, beating them pretty bad, he asks Will for help. And Will has to be sure to not doing the wrong thing a second time.
Mmm, first of all, let me say that I like the book, but I'm beginning to wonder if what I always believe is true. Means that I always believe that whoring (or hustling) should not be a "nice" thing, that who does it, always has to be a "tortured" soul, someone in need of help. And instead this is not the first book where I read of hustlers who are quite happy of their life and that are planning to do that for a bit, till they obviously will find a nice man to set up. In this book this situation is driven to the extreme point not only Corey is happy with his life, he is also quite a "normal" guy in his everyday life, a nice home, a bunch of friends... he also says that since he likes sex, he doesn't see any wrong reason in gaining some money doing it.
Yes in the end the story is a bit of Pretty Woman turning Pretty Man; we all know that in the end Will will do the "right" thing and will make Corey an "honest" man; actually, Corey has a more ordinary life than Will, and probably it will be Corey that will take a bit of normality in Will's life. The suspence subplot is easy and not too complex to unveil, but actually it's not the important thing of the story. And also it's strange but, the story ends very quickly, and yes, it's not very long, 80 pages, but I read it really in a blur... for me this is a good thing, since it means that I like it and I want to know what happens next as soon as possible, but, well, I'd like to have a bit more to read.
