You could tell he'd been there!
Escrito de manera sencilla,directa,sin eufemismos.Tiene la virtud de relatar hechos reales,no producto de la imaginación.Evidentemente el autor fue protagonista y profundo conocedor de la vida en la Polinesia.
Hard to get into at first until you get used to his writing style. There are many more polished writers, but this guy lived these adventures. You get the impression he was there. A bit like James Michener's Aventures in Paradise, but rougher style.
